Optimum Geotechnics is currently bootstrapping the mining-specific AI startup Xplainable Mining Intelligence (XMI).

We serve mining operations of every kind, and the engineering and operational teams within them, seeking safer, faster, and more consistent decisions.

Our key differentiator is explainability: AI combined with engineering logic, never black-box outputs. Explainability is not a feature preference; it is the mechanism that makes the mission possible. Judgment that cannot be traced cannot be preserved. Judgment that cannot be preserved cannot be transferred.

The provenance discipline we enforce today — sourced versus inferred, computed versus asserted, verified versus provisional — is the same discipline that will one day allow a regulator, a mine manager, or a coronial inquiry to interrogate a machine's reasoning the way they would interrogate an expert's.
